Existing investors also joined the round and contributed additional capital.
The financing builds upon a long history between Array and CVS Health and opens doors to new levels of collaboration to expand access to high-quality behavioral care.

As an early champion of telepsychiatry more than 20 years ago, Array and its early founders have been instrumental in the reinvention of how mental health care is delivered. The practice has long advocated for improved access to timely, quality behavioral health care in hospitals, community clinics, primary care offices, and homes for patients nationwide. Today, there are about 90 million Americans who can access Array’s services across all 50 states.
An estimated 150 million Americans, or 40% of the population, live in federally designated mental health professional shortage areas. According to research by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services, only 27.7% of the national need for mental health professionals is actively being met. This scarcity of mental health professionals prevents patients from receiving the care they need, resulting in adverse health outcomes. The virtual care model allows for a more equitable distribution of clinical resources, particularly in rural and underserved communities, helping to remove barriers that limit patient access and increasing collaboration between mental and physical health clinicians.

Array’s Medical Director of Engagement, Dr. Jamie Evans, oversees psychiatric care for underserved individuals in crisis. Internally, she supports the wellness of Array clinicians and employees by creating an environment where they can achieve work/life balance and thrive.
Evans helped to create a dedicated “Clinician Wellness” resource page to support her peers, a response to the increased demand on clinicians’ personal mental health and well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic. She built training around recognizing burnout and implemented a scale that helps track individual and overall scores.
In addition, Evans is a pillar of Array’s Diversity, Equity & Inclusion efforts, helping to establish a well-appointed DEI Committee committed to a nondiscriminatory workplace where everyone feels valued and respected. She also helped to build a clinician peer-to-peer program and rolled out employee resource groups, both of which help build connections between team members and let people feel seen even in a remote environment.

The stigma associated with mental health is a key obstacle for those trying to speak about or address their mental health. BOSTON, MA. — Array Behavioral Care, the nation's leading virtual psychiatry and therapy practice, announced today that Dr. Nicole Christian-Braithwaite, SVP and Chief Medical Officer of Non-Acute and Scheduled Care for Array Behavioral Care, will present the Department of Psychiatry’s Grand Rounds at Boston Children’s Hospital on June 22.
Dr. Christian-Braithwaite’s presentation is titled, Racism is Trauma: How to Support Children and Adolescents Who Experience Racial Trauma. The presentation will help attendees understand the intersection of trauma and racism and the long-lasting effects of this on children and families of color. The presentation will include insights on screening for and addressing racial trauma and how racism may be perpetuated in mental health encounters.
“As our communities of color continue to experience acts of racism and trauma, our healthcare leaders and providers must combat racial discrimination and have the assets to support diverse populations,” said Dr. Nicole Christian-Braithwaite. “I urge every healthcare institution to consider following in the steps of Boston Children's Hospital as they commit to providing residents with more cultural awareness and the skills to care for the mental health of marginalized groups who are often overlooked".
Racial trauma, or race-based traumatic stress, refers to the mental and emotional injury caused by encounters with racial bias and ethnic discrimination, racism, and hate crimes. Following the presentation, attendees will be able to identify the impact racism and microaggressions have on the mental health of children and adolescents of color and will be equipped with resources to support these patient populations.
