Piedmont Community Health Plan (PCHP) has partnered with Array AtHome, an online behavioral health service, to bring care to PCHP members in Virginia and other states. This partnership ensures members in need of behavioral and mental health treatment have access to timely, quality care.
Mount Laurel, NJ – (PCHP) and Array are pleased to announce their new partnership. This partnership ensures that individuals have access to convenient online psychiatry and therapy services anytime, anywhere. As of February 1, 2021, Array, a telehealth provider service can be used in-network with Piedmont Community Health Plan by residents of Virginia and several other states.
Array has been providing mental health care entirely virtually for the past 7 years and is a covered benefit for more than 25 million individuals across the country. Telebehavioral health services like Array has proven to be an effective form of delivering care with multiple benefits during the COVID-19 pandemic by expanding access to quality care, reducing virus exposure to patients and front-line staff and reducing the demand put on health care facilities resources.
According to the 2021 State of Mental Health in America Report, Mental Health America screened and provided immediate resources to over a million people from January to September 2020 through the MHA Online Screening Program. The report showed how those looking for help with anxiety and depression has skyrocketed, with a 93 percent increase in anxiety screens over the 2019 total and a 62 percent increase over the 2019 total number of depression screens. The same report shows that the rate of anxiety peaked in September 2020, with over 80% of people who took an anxiety screen resulted with moderate to severe symptoms. Similarly, since the beginning of the pandemic, 80% of people who took a depression screen consistently resulted with moderate to severe depression symptoms.1
Telebehavioral health helps payers support their members during the pandemic and prepare for post-pandemic. This method of care also allows payers to meet the needs of their members who may experience the predicted future wave of worsening mental health problems. Through Array, PCHP members can fit sessions into busy days, reduce the chances of infection, cut out any travel time and expense, skip the waiting room, and connect to a large network of clinicians to receive the high-quality care they deserve. An Array survey showed that 96% of their members prefer online to in-person care and 98% of members felt more engaged in their care.
“We’ve recognized the existing and rising need of behavioral health services and could not be more thrilled to offer additional options to our members,” explained Barb Schlesinger Nash, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, Director of Client/Provider Relations at Piedmont Community Health Plan. “Through our partnership with Array, more Virginia residents will have the opportunity to access a mental health professional when they most need it.”
“We are proud to partner Piedmont Community Health Plan to bring these services to their members in Virginia and several other states.” said Justine Mitchell, Vice President of Array AtHome. “What a great start for 2021!”
