Mark first became interested in behavioral health care because he wanted to make a positive impact on other people’s lives and to assist in constructing a path forward in partnership with each patient.

Mark’s philosophy of care is to meet a person where they’re currently at in a non-judgmental and accepting way. Fun facts about Mark include that he has appeared nationally on the Geraldo Rivera Show and has performed at the New York World’s Fair. Additionally, Mark has traveled to Great Britain, Spain, and Italy.

Thomas Cantey, MD

Thomas Cantey is a psychiatrist offering medication management to adults. Dr. Cantey specializes in adult psychiatry, mood disorders, general medicine/psychosomatics and LGBT issues. His approach to care is rooted in his belief that treatment should be a partnership with his patients that is centered on improving the patients’ health. Dr. Cantey thinks that understanding how his patients would like to get better allows him to better provide assistance, advice and care in moving forward with them.

Dr. Cantey has always been interested in knowing why people do the things they do, particularly in the way people work with both their minds and bodies to achieve their goals. For this reason, he pursued a career in the behavioral health industry by obtaining his medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine after he graduated from Yale University. In his personal life, Dr. Cantey enjoys writing, producing and performing music. He also meditates regularly as a form of self-care and has traveled to five out of seven of Earth’s continents.

Gianna Vaccarino is a licensed mental health counselor offering services to children, adolescents and adults. She has experience working with individuals who struggle with anxiety, OCD, phobias, depression, self-esteem and trauma. She also enjoys working with teens and young adults who may be going through challenging life changes.

Gianna found a lot of personal relief in therapy throughout different stages of her life. It is because of this experience that she chose to pursue a career that could do the same for others.

Gianna takes a very human-to-human approach with her clients. She wants them to feel comfortable and to build a trusting and secure therapeutic relationship. She tries her best to combine empathy and therapeutic skills as an integrative part in overcoming whatever obstacles her clients bring to therapy. Gianna helps her clients meet their goals through the use of evidence-based treatment, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and is also trained in EMDR therapy for trauma.

Gianna has a fur-baby named Theo and is currently learning to speak Italian. Her favorite thing to do is to read a new book at the beach.

Samantha Conte, MD

Samantha Conte, MD is a board-certified psychiatrist offering medication management to adults. She treats a full list of issues with specializations in wellness and health promotion, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, PTSD and trauma. Dr. Conte only prescribes non-stimulants for ADHD. She does not conduct ADHD evaluations or prescribe controlled substances.

In her practice, she feels both privileged and humbled to be able to assist others in their pursuit of life fulfillment. Her goal is to provide quality care to the best of her ability, using evidence-based treatments while considering the unique circumstances of each client she works with. Samantha’s interest in mental health care stems from childhood.

From a young age, she knew that she would devote her life to helping those with physical and mental health concerns. With two older brothers on the autism spectrum, she has always been keenly aware of how possessing unique talents can contribute to feeling misunderstood by others. Since then, numerous experiences in volunteer activities and medical school training has reinforced her interest.

One of Samantha’s life goals is to observe a three-toed sloth in its natural habitat. She pursues daily training in various martial arts, including MMA, BJJ, and boxing, and is a self-proclaimed sleep enthusiast.

Nicole Bixler is a licensed clinical social worker offering talk therapy to adults. She treats a full list of issues; however, her specialties include substance use disorder, dependence and addiction, depression, and anxiety.

Nicole received her Master of Social Work in 2017 from Stockton University.

Nicole’s philosophy of care is to treat everyone with dignity and respect. She believes there can be intense stigma and shame attached to people who live with mental health and substance use disorders. Finding the right individualized approach is imperative.

In 2017, Nicole founded a personal non-profit organization focused on ending the overdose crisis in Philadelphia.

Michele Leader is a licensed clinical social worker offering services to children, adolescents and adults. She has a variety of clinical interests; however, she specializes in child and adolescent therapy, stress management, effective communication, career guidance and post-traumatic stress disorder.

Michele’s philosophy of care is that one needs to develop positive support systems and relationships, strengthen established skills, gain new skills, be open to self-assessment, evaluate pros and cons of situations and issues, be willing to try new activities, be kind to one’s self and define and work towards a specific goal. Michele’s goal is to influence and support her clients’ growth and help them through any challenges they may face. 

Michele volunteers at local animal rescues. She’s been a member of The National Association of Social Workers since 1990 and loves most types of music.

Marlene is person-centered and systems-oriented. She treats everyone where they need to be met and works with the entire family system to help them heal and grow. She works on the present, accepting the past and planning for a healthier future.

Marlene has always had an interest in helping others and has been practicing in the field for over 20 years. She has spent her career helping people to be better versions of themselves.

In her free time, Marlene loves to cook and even attended cooking school in France.

In her practice, Kelly’s philosophy of care is to help others become aware of their thinking and to help them realize that they are not their thoughts. She assists individuals in developing inner awareness via the senses for grounding in order to heal past wounds. Kelly’s interest in mental health care stems from her desire to empower others to empower themselves. Kelly received training in MBSR from Integrative Medicine at Jefferson.

She has done stand-up comedy and loves Broadway musicals.

Courtney Henson is a licensed clinical social worker offering services to adults. She has a variety of clinical interests; however, she specializes in mood disorders, anxiety disorders and stress management. As a therapist, Courtney values the power of listening and being heard. Her goal is to teach therapeutic skills that bring meaningful and positive change to a client’s life. These changes can lead to both immediate relief and, ideally, ongoing growth.

Courtney’s interest in mental and behavioral healthcare stems from her innate desire to help others. At a young age, it became clear to her that a person’s internal dialogue and feelings about themselves had a huge impact on mood and life decisions. She eventually decided to follow a career path that would allow her to help people realize their individual goals for mental wellness.

Courtney enjoys yoga at least two times a week. She loves going to the Jersey Shore with her family, where they kayak and swim in the ocean. Her favorite place she’s ever traveled to was Greece when she was in college and she hopes to go back one day.
